Fewer Weekends, Slower Sales

It’s been another strong month for fast-casual in September, considering there were only four weekends in the month compared to 2018’s five. Sales are still up at 1.22% for the trailing year. Labor Day saw a nice bump with fast-casual sales up 1.54%.

Sadly full-service was down again, bringing overall numbers for the month down by 2.91% but again, largely due to one less weekend this September. The trailing average for the past 12 months is down by 1.8%.

It’s the start of busy season for the hospitality industry, so it will be interesting to compare how the next few months shape up for both sides of the restaurant business.
