April got off to a strong start for both Fast Casual and Full Service DMV restaurant sales.
Last month, Fast Casual came in at -3% and Full Service at -2% at the end of April compared to April 2024 sales. April started off with a bang, followed by a lull mid-month and another upswing during the last week.
In last month's 7-day moving average chart, both segments saw excellent performance over the first weekend, coinciding with the Cherry Blossom Festival, peaking at +13% growth for Full Service and +18% for Fast Casual. Full Service also saw a slight boost from Easter weekend (April 20th), before both segments ended the month with positive growth.
Delivery as a percentage of overall sales accounted for 12.9% of sales for the DMV, and 12.6% nationwide, similar to last month.
