February’s Swoon in the Twin Cities

Minneapolis diners were in love with area restaurants this month, with sales up 3.39%, the best monthly performance in a year. Leap year 2020’s extra day on a Saturday translated into five Saturdays instead of the usual four, no doubt helping with all the very lovable sales. Also on restaurants’ side was Valentine’s Day, falling on a Friday instead of earlier in the week, and bringing in a heart-stopping 52.20% increase in sales. These positive numbers produced a bounce in the trailing average, now at -1.51%, up from January’s -4.76%.
