It might be spooky season, but there’s nothing spooky about these metrics!
After a slight dip in August, things are back on track and gaining momentum from September! Most notably, overall sales for DMV restaurants ended up on the positive (4.1%) compared to where restaurants were at back in 2019. By segment, Full Service ended up at -2.9% and Fast Casual at 13.8%.
In-house delivery rates also decreased for the DMV and were relatively stable for non-DMV restaurants.
Full Service’s monthly weighted average is still inching its way back up, while Fast Casual has remained strongly on the positive side since April 2021. Even with industry-wide labor shortage and supply chain shortages, the numbers are tracking in the right direction, albeit slowly.
We’re not fortune tellers (disappointing, I know), but with Delta variant COVID cases petering out and cooler October weather on the way, we might be on track for another positive month. You’ll have to check back in November and see if our crystal ball predictions were correct!
