Your September 2025 Mantra

Whether you’re excited for pumpkin spice or football season (or planning a way to bring Uggs back in style - we’re rooting for you!), September has something for everyone. Even if September doesn’t feel like that Earth, Wind and Fire song just yet, there’s still time to focus on what truly matters: being kind to yourself and being grateful for today (and stepping on those freshly crunchy leaves).

The last few weeks of summer feel like finding fries at the bottom of your take-out bag; there’s still a little left to enjoy. Before fall is in full effect, I’m knocking the last few things off my summer to-do list: 1.) catching a sunset with my favorite people, 2.) enjoying some much-needed alone time and 3.) finally catching up to the ice cream truck that’s been driving past my house. While seasons come and go, my charm and enthusiasm stay the same.

Your Bio

You are the king or queen of front of house. You're a hit with the regulars and know just how to make everyone feel special. You're also very good at making it seem like you have it all together, but won't let anyone see what the inside of your car looks like. You're the first person your GM sends to an unhappy guest to make things better. Other famous Charmers include Bon Appetit's Brad Leone, Leslie Knope from Parks & Rec, and Joey Tribbiani from Friends.

Every season has its trends, and this September, I’m reminded that the most important one is being myself. Whether it's through decorating our menus with my fall-themed doodles or swapping out boring bathroom soap for a pumpkin-spice infused version, letting the unique parts of me shine is better than anything (including the jumbo pumpkin pie from Costco). What’s cooler than being cool? Being who I really am: creative, magnetic and ready for whatever season life throws at me next.

Your Bio

You are always coming up with new ideas, and don't like the "old" way of doing things. You're like Fernet, either people love you or they pretend to. You enjoy mixing things up and may or may not have unironically owned a Fedora at one point (it was the 2010s ok!?). Other famous Creatives include Phoebe Buffay from Friends and Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter.

Even if September doesn’t feel like that Earth, Wind and Fire song just yet, there’s still time to focus on what truly matters: being kind to yourself and being grateful for today (and stepping on those freshly crunchy leaves).

While everyone else gets their sweater collection ready, I’m still using my last few drops of sunscreen to take in the end of summer (although I ran out of bug spray in July). I’m all for living in the moment, and today, there’s still enough time to rock dad shorts with sandals and sneak in one final barbecue (although I might bring a few blankets). Taking life moment by moment is a great way to show gratitude (I also show gratitude by freezing that rack of ribs to enjoy when it gets cold).

Your Bio

You can really work in any position front or back of house, but feel most at home on or near expo. You are high energy and can sometimes be aggressive (or just aggressively positive). You've expressed your fair share of "WOO!"s and "LET'S GOOOOO"s. You love the rush and are usually down to go out for a nightcap after closing. Other famous Pushers include Gordon Ramsey and Matty Matheson.

Season changes feel a lot like decluttering your freezer; overwhelming at first, but easier once you're in the swing of things. Amidst packed schedules and seasonal specials, I’m reminded that life is about more than finding time for yourself; it’s about making time. This month, I’m making time: time to decompress, time to look back at how far I’ve come and time to enjoy a hot soup in public without getting weird stares.

Your Bio

You are calm, stable, and dependable. You always get your work done and don't make waves unless someone else doesn't put in their fair share. You may or may not be approaching burnout, but admitting it would be a sign of weakness. The random kitchen object that best represents your personality is a trusty (but a lil' crusty) frying pan. Other famous Workhorses include Sydney from The Bear and Peggy Olson from Mad Men.

This fall, I’m adding the things that make life cozy: warm hugs and pumpkin muffins (and definitely not lowering the AC so people will ask for one of my handmade sweaters). Although my ideal fall would be year-round, there’s a sweetness to this season that only exists because it is temporary. No matter the time of year, being around me is like sitting by a cozy fireplace: warm, inviting and with a high chance of marshmallows nearby.

Your Bio

You don't have to be a woman, but like a mother, you are caring and loving and also know alllll the tea. You're the go-to person when a coworker needs life advice or a shoulder to cry on. Other Moms include Sugar from The Bear and Lorelai from Gilmore Girls.

Life is like a seasonal menu item; worth savoring for the time we have it. While we may still be in the busy season, I’m carving out (no upcoming Thanksgiving turkey pun intended) time for self-care. A good leader is a lot like a good old-fashioned apple pie; it can make (or break) dinner service. After all, when  I “bake” in time for myself, I’m at my sweetest.

Your Bio

You run the show and are likely a GM or other manager. You're often stressed out but still able to pull through and get shit done. You sometimes have outbursts but anger it's not your primary emotion. You are friendly, but probably not besties with most of the staff. Other famous Leaders include Carmy from The Bear, Selina Meyer from VEEP, and Tony Soprano.

The end of summer and the beginning of fall remind me that life is always on the move. While change may not be my favorite thing in the world, I’m excited for new experiences, new challenges and new excuses to test out my pumpkin pie recipe. I’m a lover of the cool months. What’s better than cozy indoor dining (or better yet, staying in and ordering delivery)? Bring on the cooler temps (and wearing fuzzy socks during my shift).

Your Bio

You are a mystery to us all (and even yourself). You show up and don't talk much but when you do say something it's typically quite profound. You're not usually managing anything and are ok with going with the flow. Although quiet, you would be missed if you weren't there. You can be slightly aloof but in a likable way. Other famous Quiet Mysteries include Hyde from That 70's Show (not an endorsement of Danny Masterson), Mama Coco from Coco, and Stanley from The Office.

As things start slowing down, I’m reminded that life is about more than having the perfect pumpkin-themed matcha order. Much like my (highly impressive) fall-themed Tupperware set, there’s a time for everything. I’m making this month about showing appreciation for those around me and giving myself a break (so I can get a head start on embroidering my Thanksgiving dinner invites).

Your Bio

Some may describe you as anal or having an "it's just business" approach, but really you just enjoy the challenge of working in a restaurant (and you really like to be the best at it). If you worked in a traditional corporate setting, you'd probably be in trouble with HR because of the less-than-delicate way you handle others' mistakes. At your core though you take pride in what you do and think others should too. You might be a sommelier or executive chef. Other famous Perfectionists include Sherlock Holmes (the Benedict Cumberbatch version), Miranda Priestly from Devil Wears Prada, and Ralph Fiennes in The Menu.
