Your November 2025 Mantra
Whether you’re perfecting that cornbread recipe, getting an early start on gift shopping or trying to get the smell of roasted turkey out of your hair, this season we’ve all got a lot to be grateful for. This November, don’t save the gratitude just for Thanksgiving; pick one thing every day that you’re thankful for (even if it’s getting a discount on that 1-gallon kettle corn tin you’ve been saving for).
The last chunk of the year is like the center piece of a brownie; it can take a while to get to, but it is well worth the wait. This holiday season, I’m reminded that what makes me charming isn’t my sweet potato cheesecake recipe or my (incredibly stylish) faux fur earmuffs, it’s my heart. Showing gratitude through inside jokes, hugs and being a (matching scarf-covered) shoulder to cry on are what make me not only charming but memorable. The dish I’m bringing to Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie (a show-stopper, whether it’s hot or cold, just like me!).
Your Bio
You are the king or queen of front of house. You're a hit with the regulars and know just how to make everyone feel special. You're also very good at making it seem like you have it all together, but won't let anyone see what the inside of your car looks like. You're the first person your GM sends to an unhappy guest to make things better. Other famous Charmers include Bon Appetit's Brad Leone, Leslie Knope from Parks & Rec, and Joey Tribbiani from Friends.

This November, before handing out the customized, hand-painted pumpkins I’ve been working on since September, I’m thinking about what gratitude means to me. It’s less about the matching sweaters and more about the friends we made along the way (who I may or may not have made matching sweaters for). This holiday season, I’m taking some time to recognize that the point of a gift is to share it with others, and my creativity goes hand in hand with my community. The dish I’m bringing to Thanksgiving is just as bubbly and inviting as me: peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream (with edible sparkles on top, of course).
Your Bio
You are always coming up with new ideas, and don't like the "old" way of doing things. You're like Fernet, either people love you or they pretend to. You enjoy mixing things up and may or may not have unironically owned a Fedora at one point (it was the 2010s ok!?). Other famous Creatives include Phoebe Buffay from Friends and Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter.

The best thing about Thanksgiving (other than the motivational speech I’m planning to give before dinner) is spending some time reflecting on all the things that motivate me. My passions, loved ones and sweet potato lattes I’ve recently discovered are part of what made this year so special. You (almost) can’t spell gratitude without “attitude”, and this year my attitude is enthusiastic, hopeful and grateful. The dish I’m bringing to Thanksgiving is honey-glazed ham (a little non-traditional, great at bringing people together and probably near a blowtorch, just like me).
Your Bio
You can really work in any position front or back of house, but feel most at home on or near expo. You are high energy and can sometimes be aggressive (or just aggressively positive). You've expressed your fair share of "WOO!"s and "LET'S GOOOOO"s. You love the rush and are usually down to go out for a nightcap after closing. Other famous Pushers include Gordon Ramsey and Matty Matheson.

This November, I’m looking forward to more than just the buy-one-get-one-free turkey leg specials. I’ve realized that there’s nothing more adrenaline-inducing than gratitude (and maybe making sous vide mashed potatoes). Despite the long days and sometimes long nights, I’m grateful for the things that make my hard work worth it: my community, my passions and the leftover mac n’ cheese I’ve hidden in the back of the fridge. The dish I’m bringing for Thanksgiving is cast-iron skillet cornbread (it can handle the heat, and is a crowd favorite, just like me!).
Your Bio
You are calm, stable, and dependable. You always get your work done and don't make waves unless someone else doesn't put in their fair share. You may or may not be approaching burnout, but admitting it would be a sign of weakness. The random kitchen object that best represents your personality is a trusty (but a lil' crusty) frying pan. Other famous Workhorses include Sydney from The Bear and Peggy Olson from Mad Men.

My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is that it combines two of my favorite words: Thanks to my loved ones (and anyone who tried my new rhubarb pie recipe), and giving plenty of hugs (and handmade blankets) during this chilly season. The holidays are less about matching decor and those borderline scary animatronics, and are more about taking some time to be grateful for another year well spent (both with loved ones and my new crockpot). The dish I’m bringing to Thanksgiving is sweet potato soufflé (sweet and comforting, just like me).
Your Bio
You don't have to be a woman, but like a mother, you are caring and loving and also know alllll the tea. You're the go-to person when a coworker needs life advice or a shoulder to cry on. Other Moms include Sugar from The Bear and Lorelai from Gilmore Girls.

This holiday season, I’m doing more than setting up string lights and trying to fit that inflatable turkey back into its box in the garage; I’m taking some time to give myself a pat on the back. In between my busy schedule, I’m making a point to be grateful for the skills (and recipes) I’ve perfected this year, the memories I’ve made and the loved ones that made it all worth it. The dish I’m bringing for Thanksgiving is roasted turkey (hard to miss, and part of what keeps it all together, just like me).
Your Bio
You run the show and are likely a GM or other manager. You're often stressed out but still able to pull through and get shit done. You sometimes have outbursts but anger it's not your primary emotion. You are friendly, but probably not besties with most of the staff. Other famous Leaders include Carmy from The Bear, Selina Meyer from VEEP, and Tony Soprano.

Sometimes, life can feel a lot like losing one sock in the washing machine. But this November, I’m focusing more on what I’ve gained this year (and maybe buying a new sock multi-pack from Costco). Much like me, while November may not be the loudest season, it’s one that the year wouldn’t be complete without. The dish I’m bringing to Thanksgiving is cranberry sauce (quiet and unassuming, but it helps to balance things out, just like yours truly).
Your Bio
You are a mystery to us all (and even yourself). You show up and don't talk much but when you do say something it's typically quite profound. You're not usually managing anything and are ok with going with the flow. Although quiet, you would be missed if you weren't there. You can be slightly aloof but in a likable way. Other famous Quiet Mysteries include Hyde from That 70's Show (not an endorsement of Danny Masterson), Mama Coco from Coco, and Stanley from The Office.

It’s finally the best time of year: bring-out-my-highly-impressive-ceramic-baking-dish season. This November, before setting up my color-coded, scented candle collection, I’ll make sure to note that what makes this season special isn’t our material items. Time with loved ones, sweet memories from the year, and the pecan pie recipe I’ve finally memorized by heart are just a few of the things I have to be thankful for this year. The dish I’m bringing to Thanksgiving dinner is homemade dinner rolls (warm, organized and aesthetically pleasing, just like me!).
Your Bio
Some may describe you as anal or having an "it's just business" approach, but really you just enjoy the challenge of working in a restaurant (and you really like to be the best at it). If you worked in a traditional corporate setting, you'd probably be in trouble with HR because of the less-than-delicate way you handle others' mistakes. At your core though you take pride in what you do and think others should too. You might be a sommelier or executive chef. Other famous Perfectionists include Sherlock Holmes (the Benedict Cumberbatch version), Miranda Priestly from Devil Wears Prada, and Ralph Fiennes in The Menu.
