Dog Days of Summer for DC

August can be full of sideways moves for restaurants in the nation’s capital – Congress is out and the beach is calling, but on the flip side, tourists are in town, and someone’s still in the office answering the phones.

August sales numbers feel the same. Fast-casual was more or less flat (down 0.14%), and on the full -service side, while sales were lower by 1.9%, August’s performance was firmly in the middle of the pack for the past 12 months.

Overall, restaurants in the DC Metro area for the trailing 12 months are down 1.84% and year over year sales are down 1.36%… a sideways trend for DC dining.
