As we head into the weekend, I have to say that it has been so cool to watch our industry respond over the past few weeks. Physical closeness in many ways defined an experience in our restaurants and yet across the country we’ve been able to reinvent ourselves and welcome guests back in to redesigned dining rooms, or to our patios (that may or may not be parking lots and/or streets), or through take-out windows that used to just be windows.
And the path ahead is definitely unknown. There are going to be steps forward and steps back. This is all far from over, and it still hurts, but the agility and creativity is really something to behold.
So cheers to the weekend and to us for making it this far with sights set on a normal that feels much more normal than this one.
