June 2026 national restaurant sales metrics are here!
The trailing 4-week (28-day) average of year-over-year (YOY) sales for Fast Casual came in at +3.21% and Full Service at +2.71% at the end of June compared to 2025 sales.
Across the 7-day moving average chart, both segments saw positive growth for the majority of the month, peaking at +3% growth for Fast Casual and +8% growth for Full Service over the Father's Day and Juneteenth weekend.
Food costs averaged 30% of sales last month, which was a slight increase from May.
Fresh avocados topped our Movers list this month with prices +53% higher on average than in May, followed by romaine lettuce, up +19%. On our Droppers chart, fresh tomato prices came in with the biggest decrease at -44% lower than in May, followed by pita bread (-41%) and Roma tomatoes (-37%). This is the second month tomatoes have been on our droppers list, which is great news!
Regionally, the Northeast (once again) ended the month with the highest performance, at +18% growth.
See you in August!
