December 2025 national restaurant sales metrics are here!
The trailing 4-week (28-day) average of year-over-year (YOY) sales for Fast Casual came in at +5.18% and Full Service at +3.64% at the end of December compared to 2024 sales.
Across the 7-day moving average chart, we saw the strongest performance for both segments over the week of Christmas, peaking at +6% for Fast Casual and +4% for Full Service.
Food costs averaged 29% of sales last month, representing a +1% increase from the average in November.
Iceberg lettuce topped our Droppers list with prices -24% lower on average than in November, followed by romaine hearts, down -20%. On our Movers chart, green onion prices had a +51% increase compared to November prices, followed by red bell peppers (+30%) and brussels sprouts (+18%).
Regionally, most regions saw positive sales all month long, with the Northeast coming in on top (again!), at +21% up.
