Fast Casual restaurant sales had a monstrous month across the nation this June, despite poor air quality impacting most of the country.

By segment, Fast Casual beat out Full Service, with 5% sales growth, and Full Service at -2% compared to June 2022's numbers. Overall sales ended dead even with last year at 0%.

It was a great month for purchasing those leafy greens as red leaf lettuce, iceberg and shredded lettuce topped our Droppers list. White asparagus and Meyer lemons topped our Movers list compared to June 2023 prices.

Food, beer, wine and liquor costs as a percentage of sales stayed the same as last month for MarginEdge customers in June, with food costs averaging 29% of sales.

Regionally, the Northeast and West performed well, ending June at 2% and 5% sales growth, respectively. After a rough start to the month thanks to some truly terrible air quality, it's great to see the Northeast end the month on a high note.

Cross your fingers that clear air and warm weather continue for restaurants across the country this July. We're excited to see how the Nation's birthday sales performed this year in next month's report. See you then!
