Washington DC Metro area restaurants improved slightly last month, with an increase in sales over last August of 0.64%. While sales were up only slightly, August 2018 had an additional Friday over August 2017 which helped nudge sales higher as weekends are a major source of revenue, especially on Labor Day weekend. However, the trailing 12 month average is still negative, down 0.93%, which suggests that with the summer winding down, this year is not likely to beat the 2017 numbers.
